WE NEVER DANCED

WE NEVER DANCED

I met you in the evening, there was a chill and then came the mist.
We talked for a while, we cuddled a little, and then we had our first kiss.
Things went good, we really seemed to click; I knew I had a chance.
We went to a lot of places and did a lot of things, but we never danced.

I loved being with you and you with me.
Wherever you were, that's where I wanted to be.
We hugged and kissed and made romance.
Every chance we had we were together, but we never danced.

All I wanted to do is look into your eyes every day from sunset to sunrise.
I always told you the truth, no games, no lies.
I tried to tell you how I felt about things just so you would know my stance.
There was something I wanted and I had asked you to, but we never danced.

When we were together, it felt like we fit like a glove.
As time went by, I didn't know it, but I had fallen in love.
Being in love put a little hop in my step, you could almost say I pranced.
I never got to hold the one I loved in the dark, moving slow to the music, we never danced.

Being with you had really been a ball,
But then I started to see the writing on the wall.
I wasn't sure what was wrong as I took a quick glance.
I'm sure something could have made it better, but we never danced.

I knew right away that I had to stand tall.
I had to get ready and brace myself for the fall.
It was hard to understand, I thought that with every day that passed our love was enhanced.
I didn't know what I did wrong, but I know we never danced.

To get you to hug me seemed like such a chore,
And for whatever reason, you didn't want to kiss me anymore.
Call me crazy, but I thought our love had begun to advance.
Then it started to go downhill, it could be because we never danced.

To hold the one you love, moving slow to a love song
Makes you feel like you're wanted, makes you feel like you belong.
When you move to the music and look in your lover's eyes, you become entranced.
None of this ever happened for us, because we never danced.
