I WASN'T LOOKING

I WASN'T LOOKING

There was a journey that I just made.
It started out as a game that just had to be played.
I wasn't looking for love, I wanted to stay free.
I may not have been looking for love, but it was looking for me.

I just wanted someone to hold, to touch, and kiss.
I didn't want someone to own, to keep, or miss.
What I got was someone that stole my heart.
Someone that made me love her right from the start.

I wasn't looking for someone that would always be by my side.
But I found someone that grabbed my sole and took it for a ride.
I just wanted someone I could make feel good, someone I could push to the brink.
But there I was falling in love before I could even blink.

I wasn't looking for forever and ever amen.
I was just looking for someone to help me sin.
What I found was someone that made me feel alive.
But all I have now are the memories that will always survive.

I wasn't looking to be first on someone's list.
I just wanted someone to call me from time to time to share a little bliss.
Then I found myself on someone's list all the way at the top.
I found that it really felt good and I didn’t want it to stop.

Then, I wasn't looking for anyone but her,
And time went by so fast, everything seemed like a blur.
What I got was someone to hold that I could never keep.
What I found was someone that in the end would make me weep.

I wasn't looking for a love that would always be around.
I wasn't looking, but I thought that's what I had found.
She thought I couldn't give her what she needed and that was a must.
I found someone that didn't believe in me, there was no trust.

I wasn't looking for someone to break my heart.
I guess I was doomed for it to end this way right from the start.
When she was looking for a love, I was looking for a lover.
By the time I found her love she was gone, and I will never recover.
