I WOKE UP THIS MORNING

I WOKE UP THIS MORNING

I woke up this morning and you were not here.
I woke up this morning and you were not near.
I got up to look for you, but your essence was all I caught.
I looked everywhere and the only place I could find you were in my thoughts.

I woke up this morning you were nowhere to be found.
I woke up this morning and couldn't hear a sound.
I went to sleep last night with you tight in my arms.
We walked through my dreams with me holding all your charms.

I woke up this morning trying to smell your hair.
I woke this morning and reached for you, all I got was air.
Last night I was lying next to you and I closed my eyes.
Then you were gone, you left without us saying our goodbyes.

I woke up wanting to show you how much I care.
I rolled over and opened my eyes and you weren't there.
When I was going to sleep, I couldn't take my eyes off of you, all I could do was stare.
Now that I'm awake, I've searched for you but can't find you anywhere.

I woke up this morning expecting to feel your skin on my skin.
I know the way I wanted to wake you up has to be a sin.
I woke up this morning holding your pillow tight.
There was no skin on my skin, there was nothing to nibble or bite.

I woke up this morning wondering what I could have done.
What did I do that was bad enough to make you run?
The lovin' was great; we had fun in the bed.
If it wasn't something I had done, then it must have been something I said.

Something’s not right and life's not fair,
When you wake up as one but you went to bed as a pair.
To find someone that fits perfectly in your arms is really quite rare.
Someone I could hold in my arms like I was a big bear.

After I thought I had reached the end and given up all hope,
On the night stand next to the lamp was a note.
If you reach out for me and I'm not there, it started as I read.
I just went out to get something to show my love by fixing you breakfast in bed.
