A MOMENT IN TIME

A MOMENT IN TIME

I was born on a Friday morning or so the story goes.
Daddy gave out cigars and gave momma a rose.
All things were good, or so I was told, the first four years were fine.
Then momma went her way and daddy went his, I had them together for a moment in time.

The sun comes up, the sun goes down and the world keeps spinning around.
Life carries on like a carnival and time passes without making a sound.
Seasons come and seasons go as there are valleys to cross and mountains to climb.
Every breath that we take, everything that we do for love’s sake, are all just moments in time.

Our memories define who we are, that’s all I’m trying to say.
But as time passes by our memories fade away.
Day by day things are drifting so far away and nothing seems to rhyme.
I try to find more of who I am by searching for a moment in time.

To make a long story short, things got rough and things got bad,
Momma left daddy and everybody got sad.
A lot of things changed for me that really blew my mind.
Now I look back and it was all just a moment in time.

My mother, my sister and I, moved around a lot; by plane by car and sometimes by bus.
No matter where we were mom was always there for us.
We didn’t have a lot, but we did have some good times even though life wasn’t so kind.
Time moves on and now she’s gone, but she will always be with me in a moment in time.

Later in life I found my dad, or he found me.
We got to spend some time together and that’s the key.
Sometimes we think the way life has treated us is really a crime.
All we can do is take what good life does give us and enjoy a moment in time.

Now my love, I have my moments and you have yours.
I’ll take you through the shortcut and skip the grand tour.
Your moments and my moments have crossed and that’s just fine.
Baby I'm glad we came together to share a moment in time.

So here we are, living under the moon and sun.
Day by day we live our lives and then it’s done.
When it’s over we are put six feet under in a box made of pine.
Some may be sad and some may cry, but as time goes by we will only be a moment in time.
