A POEM

A POEM

A poem can be short or it can be long.
When put to music, it can be the lyrics to a song.
A poem can be about what's wrong or what's right.
It can be a bird high in the sky as it soars in flight.

A poem can be a flower that you stop and smell on your way.
It can be words that out loud you just can't say.
A poem can be a river that to the ocean it is flowing.
It can be a tree that for hundreds of years has been growing.

A poem can be about a place that's dark and you're trying to find the light.
It could be a battle that to the end you must fight.
A poem can be a dream that has slowly begun to drift.
It can be about the ground that you stand on that has begun to shift.

A poem can be about a first kiss in the rain.
Or the memories of an old lover that drives you insane.
A poem can be about a touch that gives such a thrill.
Or a time in your life when you were keeping it real.

A poem can be a fantasy that makes your mind wonder.
It could be about the wonders of life that makes one ponder.
A poem could be memories that bring back tears.
It can be about places where you get lost in your fears.

A poem can be about lovers that lurk in the past.
It can be about a life that just went by way too fast.
A poem can be about deep dark secrets that you never want to share.
It can be about people that are lost in their own little worlds that just don't care.

A poem can be a darkness that lives deep within.
It can be about how a man and a woman can be just friends.
A poem can be a sunset that's painted in many hues.
It can be about life and how you have to pay your dues.

A poem can touch the hearts of many, I know this is true.
Some may be written for someone special and meant to be read only by a few.
A poem can have a message and some may have two.
This poem was written to say . . . I love you.
