THIS DAY

THIS DAY

At the dawn I saw the world as I opened my eyes.
I saw there were things that needed to be done so I began to rise.
I saw there were so many unexplained things; there was so much to know.
I saw the ways of the world and I learned, I absorbed and began to grow.

The sun peeked over the horizon with a palette of hues that painted the sky.
I learned that there is natural beauty in the world and there is no reason to ask why.
I wanted to create the beauty with a palette of my own.
I touched the beauty and absorbed the colors of life and again I've grown.

The bright colors fade into a pale blue as the sun sits on top of the trees.
There is a nature that keeps things going that I learned from the birds and the bees.
I've learned that everything in nature has its place.
If it wasn't for the creatures in nature, there would be no human race.

The sun moves up to high noon and I am invincible, at the top of my game.
I hold my destiny in my own hands, I get all the credit, and I get all the blame.
I'm a man, I'm a worker and I reap what I sow.
Working early, working late, working by the sweat of my brow is all I know.

The sun drifts to the west on its journey through this day.
I realize, as time moves on, that in life there's a piper you have to pay.
I start to realize my own mortality, I know just as this day began,
As the sun heads for the horizon, this day surly will end.

It now seems like the sun is racing toward the horizon on a quest.
Time is flying by there are things to do no time to rest.
There is so little time left to leave my mark before the end of my day.
The sun closes in on the horizon there is so much that needs to be done, no time to play.

The sun slows down and inches behind the horizon, again showing its beautiful colors.
I can see my day coming to an end knowing it's been like no others.
When the sun drops out of sight and the darkness consumes the light,
I will know I gave this world all I had and did the best I could to do what's right.

It's dusk, the sun has set and this day is over.
Somewhere my bones will be lying under clover.
The human race has a way of staying alive.
As the sun sets on my day, a new sun for a new day will arise.
