NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION
At the beginning of each year there is a new year’s institution.
We need to find something we want to change and make a resolution.
First I need to stop tempting fate.
I need to go to the gym and lose some weight.
I don’t have many vices but I do like to eat.
It would be nice when I look down if I could see my feet.
I could stay away from all the tasty treats.
I could go out and run up and down the streets.
Maybe I could recycle the things I throw away;
So the earth can survive another day.
There are things I could do to help stop pollution.
Maybe some of these things could be my resolution.
There are places on this earth that I have vowed to see.
I have a list of places of where I want to be.
There are places that I have been so I seem to be on track.
There are places that I liked and would love to go back.
There are passions in my life that I didn’t want to end.
I would love to bring the passion back but I don’t know where to begin.
There’s a novel in my head that I could bring to a conclusion.
Getting this story down on paper could be my New Year’s Resolution.
Putting paint on a canvas is one of my desires.
If I could only paint my masterpiece before my time expires
I want to paint life as I see it through my eyes.
I could paint life as it is or as it seems through it’s disguise.
There is a guitar that I haven’t played in years.
When I think of the lost time it brings me to tears.
I have poems that are begging for music to set them free.
I could sing to my lover that she’s the one for me.
I don’t know which one to pick for my resolution.
Maybe picking them all would be the solution.
Whatever you pick for your resolution, may you be full of cheer.
I hope everyone has a very happy new year.
