TOGETHER FOREVER
He sits on a bar stool in a room filled
with smoke.
He hopes someone will buy an old man a
drink that's down and broke.
He thinks about a time long ago when he
had some money to buy.
When he had a good job and wore a shirt
and tie.
She lies in bed thinking about things
that might have been.
She thinks about someone special that
was more than just a friend.
She thinks about how she hates being
alone
When all she ever wanted was someone to
love, kids, and a home.
He takes a sip of his drink and looks
at his tattoo of her name.
It's there to remind him of a love from
the past, but now it just drives him insane.
He remembers a fight, but can't
remember what about, just something lame.
He downs his drink knowing that he only
has himself to blame.
She closes her eyes and prays that
tonight she's not haunted by an old love in her dreams.
He holds her in this dream and it feels
so real, but dreams are never what they seem.
She thinks about how being in his arms
feels like where she belongs.
As she slips off to sleep she tries to
remember what went so terribly wrong.
He goes into his room that is spinning
around.
He falls on his bed not knowing where
he is bound.
He slips away, deeper and deeper into a
place that he can't mention;
A place where the past, the future, and
now, all come together in another dimension.
She moves into a realm where the
difference between reality and insane is a very thin line.
A place where dreams become reality and
there is no sense of time.
She has started on this journey every
night for many years.
But on this night it is different she
feels no sadness and she knows there will be no tears.
He sees a place from his youth and the
girl of his dreams just as it was everything is the same.
They both look as they did when they
first met; there is even no tattoo of her name.
She looks into his eyes and smiles
because she is finally with her man.
He takes her in his arms and kisses her
and they walk to her room as he holds her hand.
True love knows no time and some things
are just meant to be.
This love will last forever because
here in this dimension is eternity.
People will never understand what
happened; they will just say it was for pity sake.
For the two souls that will be together
forever, in their old reality, will never wake.
