I WAS

I WAS

I was looking at life but I was blind to what others could see.
Then one day I saw your eyes looking at me.
I looked deep, deep into your love and I could see what it could be.
The more I looked into your eyes, the more it set me free.

I was listening to the sounds that make the world turn.
I was deaf to the words of love that sets your soul to burn.
I hear your voice and your whispers in my ears.
I hear your words of love and wonder where you've been all these years.

I was feeling bad; I was so sad and blue.
I was numb to the feelings of love; then I saw you.
There were feelings that overwhelmed my brain that I fought from the start.
The harder I fought the stronger my feeling got until I surrendered my heart.

I smelled the flowers but the sweet fragrance had faded away.
I couldn't smell the coffee in the morning that helps me get through the day.
Then there was your essence and that was all I could smell.
Your perfume invaded my senses and rang my bell.

I was trying to find a soul to touch but something went awry.
I went deep within trying to find out why; then I reached up and touched the sky.
That's where I found you wanting to be loved so much.
There you were waiting on me, wanting to be touched.

I was talking but the words I just couldn't speak.
I wanted to tell you you're the one I want to keep.
My voice couldn't make a sound so I spoke with my eyes.
I looked deep and you looked deep because the eyes won't tell lies.

I was walking but then my legs couldn't move.
I have some place to be, someone to see and a love to prove.
I see your love and I want to run to you.
I want to show you a love so grand and true.

I was smiling on the inside but my lips couldn't grin.
I can't find where you are or where you've been.
When all these things are things I can mend.
I will have a big smile that will never end.
