ALWAYS

ALWAYS

The moon from up above has always lit up the night.
The birds in the sky have always ruled in flight.
The early morning has always had its dew.
And like an old hound dog, I will always be there for you.

The stars have always been in the heavens.
Gamblers have always yelled seven come eleven.
The sun every night always says adieu and every morning is back anew.
And whenever I have to leave, I will always be back for you.

The mountains have always mingled in the clouds.
Rock and roll has always been loud.
Sailors have always sailed their ships.
And like the sun and moon have their eclipse, I will always kiss your lips.

There has always been wind to blow through the trees.
Throughout time there have always been the birds and the bees.
The farmers have always planted their seed.
And you will always be the one that I need.

Prisons have always had their walls.
Little girls have always played with baby dolls.
Little boys in the wind have always flown their kites.
And I will always put my arms around you and hug you tight.

Lovers have always looked into each other’s eyes and smiled.
Lovers have always run through fields of flowers that have grown wild.
Young lovers have always played in the rain.
And I will always be there to rub away your pain.

The spinning earth has always had its seasons.
Everything that man has ever done, he's always had his reasons.
Since the beginning of man, there have been stories to be told.
And I will always keep you warm when you are cold.

The ocean has always had its tide.
Cowboys have always had their horses to ride.
Everyone has always had their fifteen minutes of fame.
And I will always come to you when you call my name.

IT'S ALL DOWN HILL FROM HERE

IT’S ALL DOWN HILL FROM HERE

As you begin to walk down this road of life, everything is so bright and good.
Everything that happens in your life happens just like it should.
You think this is really all very great, there is nothing in life to fear.
You think that things can't get any better; it's all downhill from here.

Going down life's winding road, you try to look left and you try to look right.
You see things you haven't seen before and start to feel the fright.
You realize life starts out going uphill so you shift into another gear.
You just know that soon you will reach the top, and then it's all downhill from here.

You find out that in life there is a lot that needs to be learned.
But then you think you know it all and there's time to be burned.
So now all you're doing is drinking and chasing women here and there.
You think life is all fun and games, damn; it's all downhill from here.

Then you catch one of those women or she catches you.
And once that she has you, there is nothing you can do.
You think this is the best thing that's happened to you in many a year.
You know you are in love and this feeling is good, it's all downhill from here.

The first baby comes along and you feel complete.
For the first time you feel whole, this is one of life's little treats.
You pass out cigars to family and friends, and then sit back with a cold beer.
Now you have everything you want in life, a wife and a son, it's all downhill from here.

Then another baby comes, then another, you love them all and their love can't be beat.
But as time goes on, it seems like it's one of life's little tricks and not so much a treat.
Sometimes the kids get to be a bit much, but you still do your best to rear.
Then you say a little prayer, that it's all downhill from here.

Years have passed, your wife has moved on, and the kids are all grown.
Life has given you a second chance to live your dreams, now that you're on your own.
There are pictures to be painted, songs to be written, places to see, and music to hear.
So now you're living fast and having fun and you just know that it's all downhill from here.

In the blink of an eye your grand kids are having kids and life seems to be flying by.
One day you look in the mirror and see a stranger, you're just not the same guy.
You realize that this winding road of life is getting closer to the end, and you shed a tear.
There have been good times and bad on this road of life and now you know it's all downhill from here.
